TREL Project – Quarterly Update (April 2021)

Deliverables and milestones

We are delighted to share with you that all the deliverables and milestones were reached in a timely-manner as estimated in the proposal, even though the COVID pandemic made the work a bit more difficult. We are especially happy to see the project website and logotype launched- these were kindly delivered by SIOP Europe. In addition, we have met all the ethical and legal requirements set for the project and were able to report on those, which was particularly challenging due to the mailing and travelling restrictions.

Tumour boards

Multidisciplinary tumour boards are one of the most important twinning exercises envisaged within the project and thereby we are particularly proud to announce that we have already organised 3 tumour boards with partners from the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf and Princess Maxima Center for Pediatric Oncology. These consisted of discussing four patients with conditions of medulloblastoma, high-grade astrocytoma and two Wilms tumour cases. For two of those discussions the Clinical Patient Management System (CPMS) platform was used, slowly incorporating its use into our project.

Online meetings

One of the most informative quantitative measures on the progress of the TREL project is the number of online meetings we have had so far with each partner. Please see the graph below summarising our collaboration!

New team members

So far, we have welcomed 19 new team members into our local team at Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos and we are still counting! Their expertise enriches the project in various fields and the summary can be found below.

Further events

First of all, we would like to share that there will be a Project Management and Administration workshop on the practical side of the project implementation, delivered by PhD, MBA Nuno Andrade, Head of the Research Support Office at CCRI. We are very much looking forward to this workshop here at VULSK but we welcome anyone who would like to join! Please contact us if you would like to get involved.

Date: 27th of April  Time: Yet to be defined

Secondly, we would like to remind you about the upcoming Project Administration Group quarterly meeting, as stated per Consortium Agreement, which involves all the Working Package Leaders. We will let you know about the precise date 2 weeks in advance and distribute the meeting agenda one week in advance. The date is yet to be defined, but we will try to collaborate with each partner as much as possible to set a convenient date.

Last but not least - we are looking forward to holding follow-up meetings with each Work Package separately and we expect to see some reporting from Work Package leaders on the progress of those Work Packages. Additionally, there will be some time set aside to discuss any practical, legal or administrative issues occurring within the implementation. These follow-up meetings will be tailored to the specifics of each Work Package and we will contact each partner separately about those.
